Our Mission
The Los Angeles County Electric Truck & Bus Coalition believes in the power of ZERO. Zero-emission electric buses and trucks have the power to improve the life of each and every Angeleno. Electrifying all buses and trucks in the Los Angeles region will lead to better air quality, healthier communities and a stronger local economy.
With proven heavy-duty electric technology already on the road, it’s time for Los Angeles to kick our addiction to dirty fossil fuels and power our fleets with 100% renewable, non-polluting electric power. We’re on a mission to replace all of the polluting buses and trucks in Los Angeles County with healthier and safer zero-emissions vehicles. We support thoughtful policies that accelerate fleet electrification while creating equitable economic growth and quality local jobs.
Our Guiding Principles
100% Clean
We support non-polluting 100% electric buses and trucks, and strongly oppose fleets powered by natural gas or fossil fuels of any kind, as these combustibles spew emissions that harm our health and our climate.
100% Equitable
For far too long, disadvantaged communities have been forced to endure the air pollution and resulting health problems caused by living next to LA’s busiest roads and freeways. We support policies that prioritize disadvantaged communities and bring the economic and public health benefits of clean fleets to these communities first.
100% Quality Jobs
Clean fleets will generate economic growth and create thousands of new jobs in LA County. We support careers and skilled training programs to ensure that investments in zero-emissions vehicles lead to jobs that pay family-sustaining wages, as well as create training opportunities for veterans, previously incarcerated individuals and workers with systemic barriers to employment.
Our Members
The LA County Electric Bus Coalition brings together leading voices from clean energy, organized labor, environment and neighborhood community groups. As a diverse coalition, we’re using our collective power to build a broad movement united in support of a 100% electric fleet for LA County.
Our Success
The strength of our coalition lies in a vision that unites environmental, labor, and energy priorities to achieve transformative change for our communities. Standing together, we successfully advocated for zero-emission transit solutions across the region and state.
Los Angeles Metro and the Los Angeles Department of Transportation now lead the nation with a bold commitment to 100% zero-emission buses by 2030, helping push other cities across the United States to adopt zero-emission transit. The City of Santa Monica expanded its initial zero-emission transit pilot project 5x over its initial plan, and reaffirmed a 100% zero-emission commitment by 2030. And our coalition worked with other statewide advocates to secure the groundbreaking Innovative Clean Transit Rule from the California Air Resources Board, transitioning the State of California’s transit fleets to 100% zero-emissions by 2040.
